We sit smack dab on the beach near Krui, South Sumatra, with a front-row seat to the Indian Ocean (including one of the most hectic slabs you’ve ever seen).

If you look up the coastline, you’ll see why this place is a surfers dream. There’s a wave for every possible mood—big, small, fast, slow, left, right - Krui is your oyster, and also a bit off the beaten path. Thankfully, this place has dodged most of the Western world, so expect a genuinely local experience.

But what really makes Amy’s Place stand out? Well, it’s the ridiculously massive garden, and crazy amount of free space. We're talking an acre of grass, flowers, and coconut trees, begging you to jump in a hammock and pretend to read that book you brought ... Zzzzz

 

With space for only 14 guests, it’s like having your own private jungle paradise. I mean, who needs crowds when you can have this much room to wander around, get an outdoor massage in the gazebo, do cartwheels, get a frisbee stuck on the roof, pretend to be a sloth on the ocean view daybed, or just drink a cold beer next to / in the pool.

 

I’m serious about three things: good surf, clean bathrooms, and cold beer. I hope you are too.
